How to connect a Acewell sensor to a Koso tacho, is it possible?

Sorry by my english, but i dont speak german. :(

I´m Marco from Spain. i´m transforming my R100R in a cafe-racer.

I want to connect the Koso speedmeter (trhree wires) to a Acewell sensor (two wires).

The Acewell sensor:

Have anybody connect the Acewell sensor to a koso speedmeter??. Y have search in the forum but idont speak germany and ihave not seen the exact connection betweem the two devices.

I have tested with a multimeter, but i am not sure how to connect, and i dont want to have a break with the Koso instrument.

I have post in Koso Europe but i have not a answer.

AFAIR, I only saw some threads here about connecting the Acewell sensor to a Motoscope speedometer... but lets see what the others say.

@all: Falls jemand weiss, wie man einen Koso Tacho und nen Acewell Sensor zusammenbringt aber nicht englisch schreiben kann/möchte ... einfach auf deutsch antworten. Hier findet sich bestimmt jemand, der euren Beitrag übersetzt.

I will study the circuit, i thought that the conection would be more easy. I knew that the acewell is a hallsensor.
I need to buy some components for to do the circuit and put it in a little box.
Jorg, another questio, have you a conected this circuit to a koso tacho or to another tacho (for example a Motogadget)?
What tension do i need for to power the hallsensor, the battery 12 V. i think (after power on).

I have changed the mirrors to a Halcyon units and i have put the two BMW logos to the carburant deposit. When i have photos i will put some.;)

I have a koso chrome style speedometer and an acewell sensor.
Koso original sensor is active i think. acewell passive (2 wires).
I connected acewell sensor directly (passive) to the koso- left 1 of the 3 koso wires unconnected. works perfectly.
but maybe its a benefit to amplify the step signal? I think u should try it the easy way first... your choice:D !

Btw: I did not manage to set the koso up properly at the time. When it shows 50 km/h i drive 60 in real... (seems to be a calculation error of 20% from my side...have to check formulas:oberl:)

if u need the correct wires, i have to look...... er could take a little time. . . Try it out. i would choose signal and ground first ;-)

Hi,

I've done that like beatle earlier on my motogadget. It was working for round about a half year - then it killed the sensor.
Seems the Motogadget is consuming to much current on the signal input. But may be it was only bad sensor and also may be the Coso is not consuming so much current on that pin so it will work stable there.

(Second step of evolution was a simple switching amp - killing another Sensor due to a weak transistor in the amp. So I decided to use a little more complexe circuit with the opto device to save my sensor and the expansive Motogadget for the future)

oh oh so i will have a look what wires i have connected to the sensor. i think i left out the supply. so it should not harm the sensor... but im not sure (over 1 year ago). Damn!

I prefer to do the circuits as says Joerg, is more secure for the instruments and the sensor, but more difficult and need more time. )(-:
Beatle if is possible, put the single connection between the sensor and the Koso tacho. :---)

I´ve have installed the Acewell sensor to the gearbox, and it works properly. Thanks every body.:gfreu:
I have mounted the easy instalation (i´ve only connected two wires). When i have more time, i will do the optoelectric circuit. Thanks Jorg GdG

The wheel default lenght is set in the speedo (1000 mm), i think that i must set to 1356 mm, so it work run OK.

Hi marcoA,

i had (and have) the same problem. The Acewell sensor gives 1 signal/rev i think. Then you have to set the wheel length and calculate the rear drive and the gearbox in, too.

If u didnt connect the supply wire from the koso to the sensor, it should not do any harm. The sensor works as a changing restrictor between signal port and ground. (@all: please let me know if im wrong?)

Hi Leute. ich schreib auf deutsch weil ich bissl eingerostet bin.Hab nen motogadget mini an meine honda cbr pc 25 gebastelt. hab nen tachowellenadapter von acewell den ta 2.zum tacho geht nur 1 Karl welches 12v hat. hab den Sensor angeklemmt aber geht nicht. hat vielleicht jemand von euch Ne Idee für mich. wäre spitze wenn mir da wer weiterhelfen könnte.In diesem sinne danke im voraus. Gruß Frank
 
Und ich habe selbiges Problem, mit der Motospezial Tacho-DZM Kombi!
Der Tacho Motospezial hat auch drei Kabel, gilt da der Schaltplan wie zum Koso, oder ist das wieder was anders? Elektr... ist nun so gar nicht mein Thema! ?(
Wenn ja, kann/sollte jeder Elektronikguru mit dem Schaltplan was anfangen können?:pfeif::nixw:

Aber warum fragst du nicht mal beim Guzziladen nach, ob die den moto-spezial Originalsensor für's 2V Getriebe noch besorgen können?

Oder hast du schon?

Ansonsten erinnere ich mich - Alzheimer läßt grüßen - nur noch in groben
Umrissen an unser Telefonat. Da du dich hinterher nicht mehr gemeldet hast war ich von 'mission accomplished' ausgegangen.

Ich hab zwar auf Grund gewisser an dieser Stelle nicht näher zu erläuternder Umstände inzwischen kein moto-spezial mehr am Start - biete dir aber an daß wir uns NACH OSTERN *) zu dem Thema noch mal kurzschließen.

das hat locker bis nächste Woche zeit!
Unser Tel.-Gespräch habe ich natürlich nicht vergessen!
Damals ging das im wesentlichen um die PC-Einstellung zur Programmierung der Motospezial Kombi!
Dazu ist es dann aber gar nicht mehr gekommen, da sich innerhalb des Gerätes div. Elektronik abgeschüttelt hat, das hat der Guzziladen dann repariert und die Einstellung haben die dann auch gleich vorgenommen!
Nun ist aber wohl der Geber am Getriebe hin, sodas ich mir einen von Acewell gekauft habe, weiß aber nicht wie ich den drankriegen soll!
Der Motospezial-Geber ist ihmo nicht so mein Favorit, da er nur mit Schrumpfschlauch zusammengehalten wird und ständig zum auseinanderfallen neigt! Ich weiß nicht, ob der Guzziladen noch einen besseren im Programm hat, ich habe seit Jahresfrist auch nicht mehr mit denen gesprochen, wär ja auch noch nen Versuch wert!
Wir können ja nächste Woche mal telefonieren.

In one month, I will try to connect the ACE-TA07 to a KOSO DB-01R.

I think (hope) on the KOSO side the wires are the same.

Could someone please tell me:
- what wires (colour) to connect wenn I use the simple method (only use 2 wires from the KOSO)
- what wires (colour) are 12V, Impuls, Masse on the KOSO side and what are the colours of the + and Masse on the ACE-TA7 side when I want to connect using the Circuit diagram

Wires:
The ACE-TA7 has two : White and Red
The KOSO DB-01R has three: Green/White, Red/White and Brown/White.

Hallo,

In einer Monath möchte ich versuchen die ACE-TA07 an eine KOSO DB-01R zu montieren.

Ich denke (hoffe) die die Kabel an KOSO seite sind dieselbe.

Kann jemand mir erzahlen:

- welche Kabel (Farbe) ich verbinden muss fur die Einfache Methode ?
- welche farbe die 12V, Impuls und Masse hat an die KOSO seite ? Und welche Farbe die + und Masse kabel hat an die ACE-TA7 seite. Fur wann ich das alles mit den Circuit Diagram anschliesen möchte

Kabel:

Die ACE-TA7 hat Zwei: Weiss und Rot
Die KOSO DB-01R hat Drei: Grun/Weiss, Rot/Weiss, Braun, Weiss
