Leider verstehe ich dein Problem nicht wirklich
Allgemein gesagt ist der originale Drehzahlmesser nicht sehr genau. Ob man den verbessern kann, weiß ich nicht.
Kannst du es vielleicht nochmal etwas genauer ausdruecken, vielleicht auch auf englisch?

Tried in german will try now in english
A fellow biker has a rebuild 100/7 with a tuned 1000cc engine.
Tuned as in sport camshaft, carbs, exhaust with silencer and so on.
The responce of the engine are much faster than standard engine meaning that the rpm-meter will not follow the engine rpm at 1'st and 2'nd gear, gears above that are no problem.
Secondly the meter are limited to 7000rpm and this engine runs up to 7500-8000rpm dependent of the above tuning and a compleate outbalance of the engine.
Guess there could be a capacitor on the meter PCB and some kind of electric limiter.
BTW. a mechanical prm meter follows the engine well and no upper rpm limit. Has it on my R100RS/MKM engine. But it's a bit of work to convert the engine to mechanical rpm meter.

the application of a mechanical counter needs a bearing-plate (behind the time-chain) from the late /6-series.
The electronical counteris mecanial limited to 8000 rpm.
There is no tune-up to the meter but to enlarge the rotation range.
As Dietmar wrote, the Counter is not accurate.
The only thing is to replace the poti with a new one and replace the Capacitors on the pcb.
Then adjust the counter.
If it don't follow the rotation of the engine, it may be adjusted.
That will be the case, that yours seems to be limited to 7000 rpm.
If you need more rpm on the counter, you may cut a bit of the mecanical limiter.
The electronical part of the counter is able to show much more rpm's.

The pdf file with test of linarity and gain of the meter, and the curcuit diagram will do the trick.
Seems that decreasing the value of C4 would increase the responce of the rpm meter and make it less stable in reading.
Needs a bit of testing out the right value of C4.
The owner will open the meter and look for the mechanical stop of the reading and if possible adjust it.
Will let you know how it will work.
